Oregon’s DeFazio pushes light rail over BRT for replacement Interstate Bridge

Oregon Congressman Peter DeFazio thinks light rail into Vancouver is still a sticking point on replacing the Interstate Bridge. ODOT Director Kris Strickler asked him if they could just put Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) on the project and put light rail on it later. DeFazio responded “that doesn’t really work for me.” The level of federal funding for BRT is believed to be nowhere near what could be gotten for light rail. “I don’t know what the concern is on the other side of the river,” DeFazio said. “What the hell are you concerned about?”
