A Brief History of Canon

Using research into the history of the use and the origin of the word "canon," we show that Disney Star Wars is not and cannot be canon. We compare the history of the franchise with Sherlock Holmes, Lord of the Rings, Marvel, DC, and Star Trek, and point to the differences in how licensed material has been handled over the years. During the process, you will learn about common misconceptions regarding Superman and Batman by looking at the early and modern comics. You will learn about the concept of a multiverse. Which Spider-Man is the real Spider-Man? This documentary is a journey through some of the most popular nerd franchises in history with almost 300 pictures and clips.
