Brienne of Tarth
Brienne of Tarth (seasons 2–8) portrayed by Gwendoline Christie. A former member of Renly Baratheon's Kingsguard. She is a highly trained and skilled warrior made dangerous by the fact that men underestimate her. She is considered ugly because she is abnormally large in stature, androgynous, and stronger than most men. She wants to prove her worth in a worthy cause to gain respect and acceptance.
Tormund Giantsbane
Tormund Giantsbane (seasons 3–8) played by Kristofer Hivju. A savage invader known by its many titles, "Giantsbane" being the main one. Sandor "Hound" Clegane
Sandor Clegane (seasons 1–4, 6–8) played by Rory McCann. Sandor Clegane, nicknamed the "Hound" for his wild nature, is the younger brother of Ser Gregor Clegane and a retainer of House Lannister. He is also Joffrey Baratheon's personal bodyguard. Sansa Stark played by Sophie Turner. Sansa of House Stark is the first child and second child of Eddard and Catelyn Stark. She was also the future bride of Prince Joffrey and therefore the future Queen of the Seven Kingdoms as well. Sansa was raised to be a lady, and she possesses the traditional feminine graces of her milieu, with a special interest in music, poetry, singing, dancing, embroidery, and other traditional feminine pursuits.
Varys
Varys played by Conleth Hill. Varys, sometimes called "The Spider", is a bald and fat character, due to his castration. He is the master of whisperers, the king's chief spymaster and intelligence agent. He does not hold any inherited titles, castles, or lands in Westeros, but is called "Lord" as a courtesy due to his position on the council, which is traditionally made up of great lords.
Tywin Lannister
Tywin Lannister (seasons 1–4) played by Charles Dance. Lord of Casterly Rock, Shield of Lannisport and Warden of the West, Tywin of House Lannister is a calculating, ruthless and controlling man. He is also the former Hand of King Aerys II. Prior to the events of the series, Tywin held the administrative post as efficiently as he did on the battlefield. The economy of the Seven Kingdoms prospered and the country was at peace. He is the father of Cersei, Jaime and Tyrion. Years after Robert's Rebellion, and early in the series, Eddard Stark is arrested for treason, and the new king, Joffrey, appoints him Hand of the King once again.
Jon Snow
Jon Snow played by Kit Harington. Jon Snow of House Stark and the Night's Watch was raised as the bastard son of Ned Stark. Ned claims that Jon's mother was a nurse named Wylla. His direwolf is called the Phantom due to his albinism and quiet nature. He joins the Night's Watch and becomes a talented fighter, but his sense of compassion and justice brings him into conflict with his hostile environment.
Daenerys Targaryen
Daenerys Targaryen played by Emilia Clarke. Daenerys is the exiled princess of the Targaryen dynasty, also called "the Stormborn", she and her brother Viserys were taken to Essos during the final battle of Robert's Rebellion. For seventeen years, she was in the care of Viserys, whom she feared, as he was abusive to her whenever she displeased him. In exchange for an army, Viserys marries the powerful Dothraki warlord Khal Drogo, making her a Khaleesi, a queen of the Dothraki. She is determined to bring justice to her realm, and puts the end of slavery as a particular priority. Despite her compassion, however, she is capable of being harsh and merciless with her enemies.
