ANT TRIP CEREMONY, 24 HOURS (1968)

ANT TRIP CEREMONY was an American acid rock band, created by Steve Detray (lead guitar) in 1966. Steve had entered Oberlin College in Ohio in 1966, but decided to take a break from studying, and in 1966 and part of 1967, moved in with his brother in Logan, Utah.

At that time, he formed a band and needed a name for it and it was until an English teacher suggested to him Ceremony of the Ant's Journey, as he had read in a novel that describes modern society. Soon after, the band disbanded and Steve returned to Ohio with plans to form another band (which would bear the same name). Finally, back at the university, he would eventually find the musicians for his new lineup: Steve Detray (lead guitar), George Galt (guitar, vocals, harmonica), Roger Goodman (vocals), Gary Rosen (bass, guitar, vocals), Mark Stein (guitar, flute, bass) and Jeff Williams (drums.)

ANT TRIP CEREMONY recorded its first (and only) album (of which only 300 were released and of which 100 were sold to recoup expenses) thanks to two sessions held: the first in February 68 and the second, a few months later, in a rented place in the same city where they were (Oberlin). Unfortunately, some technical glitches affected the recording: the KLH recorder used for playback had a faulty right speaker and the mix conversion was affected, resulting in vocals sounding further back in the mix than initially intended.

ANT TRIP CEREMONY foi uma banda americana de acid rock, criada por Steve Detray (guitarra solo) em 1966. Steve havia entrado no Oberlin College em Ohio em 1966, mas decidiu dar um tempo nos estudos e, em 1966 e parte de 1967, foi morar com seu irmão em Logan, Utah.

Naquela época, formou uma banda e precisava de um nome para isso e foi até que um professor de inglês sugeriu a ele Ceremony of the Ant's Journey, já que ele havia lido em um romance que descreve a sociedade moderna. Logo depois, a banda foi desfeita e Steve voltou para Ohio com planos de formar outra banda (que levaria o mesmo nome). Finalmente, de volta à universidade, ele acabaria encontrando os músicos para sua nova formação: Steve Detray (guitarra solo), George Galt (guitarra, voz, gaita), Roger Goodman (voz), Gary Rosen (baixo, guitarra, voz), Mark Stein (guitarra, flauta, baixo) e Jeff Williams (bateria.)

ANT TRIP CEREMONY gravou seu primeiro (e único) álbum (dos quais apenas 300 foram lançados e dos quais 100 foram vendidos para recuperar despesas) graças a duas sessões realizadas: a primeira em fevereiro de 68 e a segunda, alguns meses depois, em um local alugado na mesma cidade onde estavam (Oberlin). Infelizmente, algumas falhas técnicas afetaram a gravação: o gravador KLH usado para reprodução tinha um alto-falante direito defeituoso e a conversão de mixagem foi afetada, resultando em vocais soando mais para trás na mixagem do que o inicialmente pretendido.
