Watching our dairy goat, Violet, give birth to four beautiful kids was amazing, but when our children, Keeton and Riley, met the babies for the first time it really put the whole experience over the top. Their faces lit up with excitement – what a special moment! If you haven’t already watched the birth video, check it out at the link below:

At about 4:40 A.M. the babies started coming. The first kid was a nerve-wracking experience for Megan; these are the first kids born on our farm and it was tough to watch as Violet worked to get the baby out. After the first one, though, everything felt a little easier and the second baby came pretty quickly. We were a little surprised when the third baby was born, and with it being a runt we were fairly confident that that was all. Not so fast! Before we knew it a fourth baby was on its way into the world.

Getting to experience this moment was so special to us and having a good doe made it a really easy process. It was also great to watch our kids’ faces light up when they saw these baby goats for the first time. It was a wonderful morning.

Violet is a superb mother and has dutifully watched over these four babies since they’ve been born. It has been incredible to watch her care for her kids and witness the attention she provides to each one. As they grow we’ll continue to keep a close eye on all of them to make sure they’re getting the nutrition they need. Four babies is a lot to care for but Violet is doing a great job so far; we’ll help her and her babies out however we can.

Obviously there’s a lot more baby goat footage coming down the line, as well as all the other stuff that goes on around our farm. We hope you’ll tune in for all of it!
