In the three Back to the Future movies, the DMC DeLorean was the car used to make the time machine. Time travel was possible seeing the car was fitted with a Flux capacitor, fed 1.21 gigawatts of power and reached the all important speed of 88mph.

The Back to the Future ride at Universal Orlando opened in May of 1991 at a cost of a whopping $40M. The motion simulator ride had a good run that ended in 2007 after years of declining rider numbers. It was replaced by a Simpsons themed ride and area later the next year in 2008.

Paying homage the movies and ride, Universal proudly displays a DMC DeLorean just outside of Simpsons land where the Back to the Future ride once resided.

This was quite a treat to see for me and my fiance as we grew up in the 80s and remember the movies well. We're just sad we never got to ride the ride.
