So now I'm going to discuss vibrato. You must first correctly set up your left hand position. Now that we've covered how to set up your left hand in the first position, let's talk about how to set up your left hand in the third position, which is where I prefer to start learning vibrato. In third position, your hand is resting on the instrument's shoulder. To begin, I like to use the second finger on the A string since it is the most focused and powerful finger. My finger is on the fat of the finger's tip, there's a wonderful platform here, and that's where you begin.

Then, to vibrate, I draw a small arrow on the finger that points this way; that's the direction the finger must point. Back and forth. So it's back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. As you can see, the knuckle is descending and then ascending. Going down and up the stairs. So, an E on the A string in third position and then collapse it, back, back, is an exercise you may practice. After that, you can slur. That's a slur of two notes. We have four notes available. You may also do six. Then there's eight. And so on till your vibrato speed is normal. That type of vibration is required for each of your fingers.

Another thing to consider when vibrating is your arm posture. Now that we've discussed proper arm posture, you should be as flat as a pancake, with everything straight and nothing jutting out. When you vibrate, your wrist is required; wrist vibrato is the most common vibrato. So you'd do that, and as you flatten your finger a little, this comes out. When you execute the finger-wrist vibrato, the wrist moves back and forth. You must do so with all of your fingers.

The pinky is the lone exception. Because of the physicality of the pinky fourth finger, it does not require as much wrist movement. You're still executing the same action, but it's a little less intense. It's mostly finger vibrato with a little wrist movement. That's how you'd begin learning vibrato. Begin slowly. The vibrato is that.
