Welcome! In today's video, we are working together to build the new fence around the front orchard. We have always kept our muscovie ducks in our back food forest orchard to control the weeds and pests. This system has worked so well for us that we are now fencing in our front orchard as well. The plan will be to rotate the ducks through both orchards as needed throughout the year. Our muscovie ducks are primarily "meat ducks" they are a wonderful breed for so many reasons. They are very hearty and great foragers! They are wonderful mothers hatching out their own babies every year making them a very self sufficient breed. They are also popular because they are completely "quackless"! Although they have their own little hissing sounds that they make to communicate between themselves, generally speaking they are completely silent creatures. Second on the "to do" list today, is getting more kiddie pools set up in the container garden area to prepare for growing corn this year!
