I went out to Tuckahoe State Park and took my brand new used kayak out for the first time. Not only did I not drown but I managed to catch a couple of fish, if you are a kayak fisherman HELP! I managed to stay relatively dry and caught my first Pickerel in I don't know how long, Tuckahoe State Park is beautiful it sits on the Easter Shore of Maryland. I managed to catch my first and second fish from the boat, one was a small large mouth bass and the other was a small pickerel that I managed to catch right off the some pads. The bass came off of some weird under water plant structure that the state of Maryland put there. I cant wait to go back out and put my Kayak in the water again because I know that place is loaded with snake heads. i have to do a better job with getting the kayak in and out of the water, you guys have been very helpful in letting me know what I am doing is wrong. I also noticed that setting the hook is weird because of the angle you have to set it from. Some of you guys that I have watched fish from a kayak have weird hook sets and your casting is almost side armed. I have no idea if i can even do that because of the angle.
