How Many Fish Get Caught A Day?
Plenty of fish might be in the sea, but there is also plenty of fish out of the sea. Science plays a vital role in figuring out fishing operations, so without the ability to predict how many fishes are there, there is no way to determine how much people should catch. It is essential because fish need to repopulate to stay viable.

How many fish get caught a day? It varies depending on the location and the fishing process. However, statistics in the bureau states that people took 130 million tons of fish in the ocean per year back in 1996. But since, this has declined by 1.2 million per year.

In this short read, you will get mostly estimates on how people caught fish every year and what sparks the increase in fishing.

Fish Count Estimates
For the most part, there are plenty of fish getting caught each day. Since there are various ways of fishing, the agency that handled fishery has lost count of it. It doesn’t include those people who practice illegal fishing.

And for the wildest caught fishes, during capture, there’s a small chance of their survival. Most fish getting caught are most likely to die from being crushed in nets, suffocation, freezing, or live dissection after being brought to the land.

While on the other hand, most farmed fish are killed by different inhumane methods.

The following estimates are based on FAO fisheries capture and aquaculture production tonnages. It is estimated that on an average year, 970 to 2,700 billion fishes were caught from the wild back in 1999 up to 2007.

It got lowered during the years, but we are still talking about billions of fishes here. Back from 2007 to 2016, 790 to 2,300 billion fishes were caught. There are just wild-caught. In making fishmeal and oil, 460 – 1,100 billion fishes were caught back from 2007 to 2017.

These huge numbers indicate that the treatment for the aquatic species is far inhumane and should be raising some animal welfare issues.

Overfishing
It has been one of the issues that are still happening today. The Food and Agriculture Organizations are trying their best to develop answers and solutions to prevent overfishing.

They are responsible for keeping track of how many tons of fish are caught each year, depending on the locations. The only problem is that the data they are getting are only accounts of that official catch in commercial boats.

It does not include illegal fishing operations. It is becoming a national issue, and different nations issued their protocol to conserve and prevent aquatic creatures.
