The Saddest Part of Montevideo - Plastic Beach, Punta Carretas Promenade

I have nothing but respect for the people of Montevideo and Uruguay. They are the friendliest and most reasonable people I have ever met in my life. I truly do love Uruguay and I could see myself living and dying here, and I would highly encourage you to visit. (The only other country I've been to with this much freedom is Serbia.) This video is not to demean or degrade the country, but to draw attention to the main problem I see in Montevideo - plastic detritus on the beach. The streets of Montevideo are clean (and in many places of Uruguay - absolute pristine). There are many beaches in Uruguay which are also totally pristine. There are actually many beaches in Montevideo which are very clean. But this in not the case along the Rambla de Punta Carretas. Maybe it's not a big deal overall, but since it's where I run, I always see it. I know that perhaps I should be cleaning it up myself, and perhaps I will.

While I was walking I made a list of the trash items I came across:

Water guns, soccer balls, shoes, plastic bottles, bags, trash bags, more shoes, food wrappers, buckets, food boxes, medication pill boxes, plastic beer bottles, plastic bins, plastic tubing, briefcases, backpacks, soil bags, soy sauce containers, water jugs, plastic toys, paper bags, cardboard, more water bottles, plastic packaging, bottle caps.
