Later in the afternoon, the DPM joined PERRIN BEATTY and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce for a fireside chat. During the virtual confab, Freeland shared with the business crowd why she’s losing sleep.

“If you were to ask what keeps me up at night, I’d say, China's zero-Covid approach and the very severe lockouts we're seeing right now,” she said, echoing the central bank's fretting about China.

“These inevitably have an impact on supply chains around the world, inevitably drive inflation.”
