Jose “Jochy” Blanco is offering a Cameroon-wrapped cigar called Imperial Jade that will make its debut at the 2021 PCA Convention & Trade Show.

It will be the first Cameroon-wrapped cigar for the La Galera brand, which will grow to six offerings when Imperial Jade joins the La Galera Connecticut, Habano, Maduro, 1936 Box Pressed and Anemoi lines. Working with such a varietal comes with its challenges, as the company cited the challenges of both growing and handling the tobacco in a press release. “The lack of tobacco know-how in Cameroon means extra work for us at the factory. When the tobacco is received it must go through additional processes, making sure the tobacco is up to the standard that we require it to be before we even think of putting it in one of our cigars.”

However, the company believes it has come up with a winning blend, as underneath that wrapper is a Dominican-grown criollo binder from Tabacalera Palma’s Jacagua farm, along with piloto cubano filler from that same farm and Dominican criollo 98 from the company’s La Canela farm.

The La Galera Imperial Jade is being released in five sizes:
