Daisy Cousens says “class privilege” is the only reason a man who tackled comedian Dave Chappelle on stage faced a different level of punishment to Will Smith when he slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars.
Mr Chappelle was slammed to the ground by a man who ran on stage at the Hollywood Bowl for the ‘Netflix is a Joke’ festival and was quickly chased down by several security guards.
The attack comes after Mr Smith stormed the stage at the Oscars and slapped Chris Rock earlier this year.
Ms Cousens said it’s “absolutely staggering” to see how Smith was treated after the slap compared to the man who ran on stage.
“The big difference is in fact privilege and I’m not talking about any kind of identity privilege, like race or sexual orientation or anything,” Ms Cousens told Andrew Bolt.
“I’m talking about the only kind of privilege that really does divide society and that privilege is class privilege.”
