The last day of military operations in Ukraine were marked by positional battles. After the recent advances of Russian forces in the Kharkiv region, Russian artillery and aviation continue massive strikes on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine before the next ground offensive.

Positional battles continue near the city of Kharkiv. Russian forces are trying to advance along the M20 highway. So far, without any successes.

In one of the most difficult regions, in the Izyum area, no mass offensives were also reported. The Russian Army has strengthened its positions for an offensive in the direction of Barvenokovo.

Units of the People’s Militia of the Luhansk People’s Republic continue to storm the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the city of Popasna.

The Russian Ministry of Defence revealed the number of civilians evacuated from the industrial facilities of Azovstal in the city of Mariupol. So far, in total 126 civilians left the basements, including children, women and elderly people.

As a result of the operation carried on the first day, April 30, 25 people left nearby houses and another 21 people were evacuated from the territory of the enterprise.

All 46 civilians voluntarily decided to stay in the Donetsk People’s Republic.

On the second day of the operation, on May 1, 80 more civilians held by Ukrainian nationalists were rescued from the territory of the plant.

The main event of military operations in Ukraine over the past day has been the massive shelling of military and strategically important infrastructure facilities in Ukraine.

On the evening of May 3, Russian cruise missiles hit targets in various regions in western and central Ukraine, where foreign military supplies were sent.

At least six railway substations and other strategically important objects were subjected to missile strikes in the evening. According to the head of Ukrainian Railways, the damage was severe. As a result, 14 trains were delayed. There were no casualties among railway workers and passengers as a result of the strikes.

One of the Russian missiles damaged the Volovets railway station in Transcarpathia. The rail ways in the region were used for military supplies from Poland and Romania. This was the first attack in the region since the beginning of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine.

The railway infrastructure in the Lviv region has suffered significantly. The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation struck several traction and electrical substations near the city at once. The local mayor confirmed the damage to two electrical substations, as a result of which electricity was partially cut off in the city. According to various reports, the targets were the substations “Sknilov-transit”, “Kleparov-transit” and “Podbortsy-T”.

In the south of Ukraine, in the Odessa region, the mayor of the city of Artsyz confirmed a missile strike on the city. Probably the target was the local railway station.

Missile strikes were also reported in other Ukrainian regions. Air defense was working in Kiev, attacks were reported in Dnepropetrovsk, Kirovograd, Cherkasy and Ternopil regions, explosions were heard in Vinnitsa. Some of the missiles were intercepted.

On the front lines in eastern and southern Ukraine, the situation remains almost unchanged.

In the Kharkiv region, the AFU continues to strengthen its grouping, pulling together more weapons and forces. In the Donetsk region, the fronts in Avdiivka and Maryinka remain unchanged. The same situation is reported in the area of Ugledar. The armed forces of the DPR have yet to enter the city itself.

On the morning of May 4, as a result of the shelling of the Makeyevka oil depot, an explosion took place. According to the preliminary data, casualties were not avoided.

In Mariupol, more than 126 civilians were able to leave the facilities of Azovstal so far. On the morning of May 4, provocations by Azov militants resumed. The units of the Azov battalion and the AFU used the ceasefire regime to regroup the remaining firepower and strike at the Russian allied forces.
