"Roe was terribly wrong from the start"
What would it mean for Puerto Rico if the Supreme Court revokes the right to abortion?
After the leak of the draft signed by Judge Samuel Alito, the constitutional lawyer Yanira Reyes, Amárilis Pagán from Proyecto Matria and Tamoa Vivas from Alerta Puerto Rico present their points.

In the midst of the legislative debate on abortion in Puerto Rico, the journalistic outlet Politico released last night a draft of the Supreme Court of the United States that indicates that the highest judicial forum would annul the Roe v. Wade case of 1973 that legalized the interruption of pregnancies in all the country.

"Roe was terribly wrong from the start," says the draft opinion signed by Judge Samuel Alito, who was appointed by former President George W. Bush. The 98-page document is authentic, confirmed Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts.

“The Pueblo versus Duarte Mendoza case of 1980 determined that the provisions of our Penal Code that say that abortion is prohibited unless it is under medical recommendation to save the physical or mental health of women, that is protected under the right to privacy. So in Puerto Rico we could continue with those provisions, with that perception and interpretation of our right to privacy under the Constitution of Puerto Rico,” he commented.

July 4, 1776 where it was held -and holds today- that all men are born equal by the work of God with the right to: life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
