Vermont Country Pastor- John 21- Catch any fish? 5.1.22

In today's Vermont Country Pastor video, we share our worship time and the sermon focuses on the Scripture from the 21st chapter of the Gospel of John. The disciples are weary, confused, bewildered, and don't know what to do next. They have briefly seen Jesus, the Risen Christ. However, their lives are still very much at risk from the religious authorities in Jerusalem. They fall back on what they know- return to the Sea of Galilee and fish. They work all night with their boat and nets but have nothing to show for it.

Then at dawn, they see a stranger on the shore who shouts out to them, "Catch any fish, have you?" This begins a truly awesome exchange between the disciples and Jesus where they are surrounded by the pastoral beauty of Galilee and the completeness of Christ's finished work on the Cross. The disciples and all believing Christians' place in eternity has now been settled by Jesus.
