Human action caused explosion in jellyfish population, says UN
A preliminary report released by the UN last week points out that human action and unrestrained fishing have contributed to the increase in the population of jellyfish in the oceans.
According to the UN, in a short time we can reach a moment when the living waters dominate the oceans.
These curious beings, which are made up of water in 98% of the body, have been present on the planet for much longer than human beings.
However, fishing for some of its natural predators, such as tuna and turtles, has left the maritime food chain in disarray. In addition, they also have more plankton available to feed on.
There is no concrete data on the increase in jellyfish, but experts have already noticed that even the fertilization cycle of these animals is altered.
