Today’s Chicago Bears Rumors come just days after the 2022 NFL Draft. Harrison Graham breaks down the following stories:
- Robert Griffin III has been training for a return to the NFL as he reportedly ran a 4.46 40-yard dash recently. Griffin joined the Rich Eisen Show on Tuesday and said he would love to join the Chicago Bears and mentor Justin Fields. Should the Bears sign RG3 in NFL Free Agency to compete with Trevor Siemian?
Sign Nate Herbig? The Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly set to release the 3-year guard. Herbig has 17 starts over the past 2 seasons and has graded out pretty well according to Pro Football Focus. The Chicago Bears still have a big hole at right guard as Dakota Dozier, Sam Mustipher and 4 rookie Day 3 NFL Draft picks aren’t starting caliber players. Should the Bears place a waiver claim out for Herbig and have him start at RG? Assistant GM Ian Cunningham came over from Philly and should have a good feel for him as a player and potential starter for the Bears.
- Todd McShay LOVES the Velus Jones Jr. draft pick by Chicago: Several NFL Draft analysts thought the Bears reached for Jones in Round 3, but ESPN’s McShay believes that Jones has big upside and if utilized properly can big a big weapon at WR for Justin Fields and the Bears offense. Jones had a breakout senior year as a wide receiver for Tennessee in 2021 with several big plays. He’s also a dynamic return man as both a kick and punt returner.
- Chicago Bears front office changes: Bears GM Ryan Poles has started to make changes in the scouting department now that the NFL Draft is over. Chicago has let go of Mark Sadowski (Director of College Scouting), Chris Prescott (national scout) and Bobby Macedo (Scouting Coordinator). Poles has hired Trey Koziol and Jeff King as the Bears Co-Directors of Player Personnel.
