ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
On June 18, 2017, the AHA (American Heart Association) published a "Presidential Advisory" on dietary fats and heart disease. In that study, they stated unequivocally that they do not recommend coconut for heart disease. There have been decades of the battle over coconut oil.

Bruce Fife wrote a book called, "The Coconut Oil Miracle". Is it really? Probably not. Others would call coconut a villain. That's probably not true, either.

Coconut oil has been a part of the dietary fats battle for decades. Coconut oil is saturated. Therefore it has been thought to be a problem, causing weight gain and heart disease.

But coconut oil also is made up of MCTs ( Medium-chain triglycerides). Recent arguments say that not only are MCTs not bad, but they are also actually good for you. There is some evidence to indicate this may be true. But at this point, it is not conclusive. For example, food producers have begun to replace soybean oil with coconut oil to decrease fat in broiler chickens.

Meanwhile, coconut oil consumption in the US has risen relatively little since the 60s. Maybe we should do better research and wait until we have a clearer answer.
