Dr. Ping grew up in Mao's China during the Chinese Cultural Revolution (1966-1976). His father was imprisoned during Mao's purge of his political enemies within the CCP. When he started elementary school, China's entire education system had changed, with new textbooks and new narratives. He was taught to see everyone through the lenses of "class awareness" and to struggle against class enemies, including his teachers. He went to Canada to study, then later to the US to work and live. He shares with us his life story of living in Mao's China, life in Canada and the US, and his love and concerns for today's America. #immigrantstory #culturalrevolution #communism
