Immigrant Story Series Week 3: Sahara From Somalia

Sahara was born in Somalia and grew up in a refugee camp in Kenya. She survived extremely harsh living conditions and the brutal practice of Female Genital Mutilation. When she first came to America she was illiterate and couldn't even write her own name. She worked hard, believed in herself and strived to achieve her American Dream. Today she has graduated from university with a Bachelor's Degree and is now a professional educator. She shares her love and gratitude towards America, as well as her concerns for this amazing country that so many immigrants now call home. (Please click on CC to view subtitles)
