Wow! When we were building this nearly mile long driveway back in 2016, we had some massive doubts about how it would hold up! Especially after our first walk on it just after the 'rough' grading and culvert pipe installation, after we had just got 6 inches of rain! Many vehicles got stuck on this clay mile long driveway during the building process of our new Southern Illinois home, but today we are doing a before and after look between July 2016 and July 2021. It was hard to see our vision for this majestic and scenic driveway back then with all kinds of road washouts, culvert pipes silting and clogging, the road shoulders being completely degraded by water erosion and more issues.. But we persevered, and after 5 years and lots more gravel driveway work I think we finally succeeded and have the beautiful and scenic driveway that we had envisioned many years ago! It was not easy, that's for sure, but it was well worth it! Join us for some great looks at the struggles that we faced on this driveway build project and more looks at our rural property after 6 inches of torrential rains nearly derailed all of our plans and financial investments in this new property and home build!
