Foraging Black Walnuts - Move Over Squirrels!

Sharon here! It's a beautiful autumn day on our Southern Illinois farm to forage and harvest some wild Black Walnuts from our woods. The tree canopy colors are spectacular and the fresh air just can't be replicated. To my surprise we have a walnut grove right in front of us! Watch how I show you what to look for when picking, removing the nasty hulls that will stain anything, pressure washing to remove all the hulls and tannins and most importantly drying times and my technique. Foraging off your own land is a great way to appreciate all of the natural gifts for months to come and help with self sustainment.
Have ideas on the best way to crack them? Let me know as I will be tackling that in another video in the upcoming weeks!
