FEB 1, 2022 trying to beat the ice storm! Join us for a day in the field, 2 machines at work, enjoying some time in the woods, beautiful scenery, and some fresh air as we tag team once again to improve Phil's 80 acre Southern Illinois land by making a substantial food plot expansion. This is a perfect example of a great property management, land improvement and wildlife conservation project all in one! Currently (well, not after today!) he has 2 different micro food plots in the woods that we are doing some land clearing to connect both food plots into one large 'Micro' plot deep in the woods. The new food plot will be around 1.5 acres in total. Phil will be working both my bobcat e42 R-2 series mini excavator (bobcat e42 r series) and his 45 hp Branson compact tractor with the grapple, and when I arrive on scene I will take over on the bobcat mini excavator and he'll run the tractor grapple. We'll get a before look for the day, a mid stream look and an after look once we get all of the trees and brush knocked down on this land clearing project! There will still be a ton of work to do for the clean up, including cutting out all of the firewood, trimming and saving the Western red cedar trees for Sharon to use for future projects, and then piling the slash piles of all of the remains in strategic spots so as not to limit the wildlife access all the way around the perimeter of this future expanded food plot.
