This project cut the cost by over $1,000 bucks! Join us today for another DIY project as we document the full project of our DIY forestry polycarbonate shatterproof external windshield for my bobcat e42 R2 series mini excavator. I have ordered a heavy duty brush cutter for my bobcat mini excavator and this project is looking ahead to when that excavator brush cutter arrives. I priced out the bobcat forestry steel screen setup which was around $1500, not including labor and additional mounting hardware. Also, a forestry polycarbonate windshield (if my memory is correct, it's been a few months) was around $2,000. So, I decided to price out and tackle this DIY project on my own! Of course I will call on my buddy Phil to help out since he is a much better welder than I am, and he also has a MIG welder, which will produce much better welding results for the fabrication that we will have to do to make this DIY budget polycarbonate windshield work.
