Although Mayorkas claimed that the majority of freed cross-border commuters and illegal aliens show up for their first immigration and asylum hearings, McClintock pushed back, noting that nine out of ten asylum claims are rejected and that of those who don’t are not eligible for asylum, less than 15% are actually deported by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
