"On the Barricades" - s04e36

The Ukrainian army has attacked some targets in Transnistria, a small strip of land between Moldova and Ukraine that rebelled against the Soviet Union's dissolution in the early 1990s and was left to operate as a quasi-independent territory, despite the fact that it was never officially recognized by any state, including Russia.

Why did Kiev's authorities choose to carry out these attacks? What did they hope to achieve, and do they have a chance of achieving any of their goals? What has been the reaction in Moldova and Romania, as well as in Russia?
