8th gen Camaro gas filler door lock installed

8th Gen Camaro gas filler door is a huge problem for me. Dirt blows up along the filler tube and collects on the little flapper. When you put gas in the dirt will get washed into the tank, there is no gas cap just a little flapper that's in the tube and collects crap. Bad design but a rag solved that problem & a spray paint can cover fits perfect as a gas cap.

Plus my filler door pops open if I take off real fast or from the car wash. When the automatic car wash brush slaps the side of the car the filler door pops open. I bought a filler door on ebay, I didn't want to destroy my OEM door cover in case my idea didn't work.

I used a 13/16" long stainless steel drawer lock, and installed it so now my gas fill door will lock shut. Sure I need to use a key to open it but it's the only option I had. Chevy doesn't offer any fix or solution for this problem.
Note: If anyone tries to install one of these locks the hole is not round. You need to drill the hole smaller than the diameter of the lock then file it to fit the lock cylinder. Bottomline, I'm very pleased with how it turned out.
