With Elon Musk's impending takeover of Twitter should we be looking at other options for control of social media other than egotistical billionaires purchasing them on a whim? One caller suggests something a bit...outside the box: social media 'public option'.

Sam: Calling from a 952 area code. Who's this? Where are you calling from?
Bert: Hello. Hello?
Sam: Hello. Who's this? Where do you come from?
Bert: Oh this is best. I'm calling from Burnsville Minnesota.
Sam: Bert from Burnsville Minnesota. You got a nice one from Matt. What's up?
Emma: I'm sorry about the wolves lost last night and to Matt as well that was a heartbreaker.
Bert: Oh I'm used to being disappointed.
Matt: Yeah Minnesotans are like actually a good outcome last night.
Bert: Well, I was calling today to get your perspective on something. you've been talking about this whole Elon musk deal and social media. and you know I've thought long and hard about this and I think I've got an idea that everybody can hate. if you just hear me out. Because I agree with you guys that it's problematic that one person with just a ton of money can buy social media. and you know he's gonna make money with it, that's the only reason. I don't know if it's rug polls and stock stuff. or what he's gonna choose to do but on the other hand, I don't think that the internet you know the internet is the town square the new town square. Nobody gathers in a public place anymore like they used to. I mean they do but the discourse has moved. I mean so I can see a need for it. but like it's been pointed out many times you can't have forced speech. companies like Twitter you know I mean you might be able to do some really low-level stuff. but you just can't compel speech. So here's where I think I've got a solution that nobody will get behind.
