THE LEMUR MENACE

(2003) An interesting curio in the Lemur Canon. This one was written (?) (lots of improv, I think) and directed by Cat Fury, who I think was tired of a lot of us in the VDA trying to maintain a level of production continuity on our sets and this was her effort to show you didn't need any such thing. I had very little to do with this project outside helping out a little bit with some of the editing. Shannon is the only member of the Lemuric Triumvurate who actually appears here.
Great performances by Jet Black and Amanda Kirk really help this project along----the plot is similar to "The Creeping Spectre of Lemurism" and depicts a church trying to take a stand against the Lemurs and the chaos that (naturally) ensues.
The short is also noteworthy for a couple of cast members who are no longer with us---Jeff "Lurch" Ward, who played Father McConaghey, took his own life the following winter. His character is also referenced in the feature, "Die VDA Die".
Heather Carr, who played a character credited as "Misty" (although she introduces herself in the film as "Kaylee", lending to the improv feel of the production) was killed in a car accident in 2007.
