In this video on The Meeks Method® for the Management of Osteoporosis, Sara Meeks presents comments on her journey into the specialty area of bone health with a focus on Osteoporosis. She uses skeletal models as a backdrop as she tells the story of her successful management of the first patient with known osteoporosis and an acute compression fracture who she had been asked to see. Her experience with this patient in 1984 set the scene for her continued interest in bone health. With the program that Sara devised, with no clinical pathway or research to follow, the patient returned to her previous lifestyle. The patient also had complete healing of the fracture in that the vertebral body returned to its full height as was seen in an X-ray performed 6 months after the fracture date.

Sara Meeks PT, MS, GCS, KYT, specializes in the management of patients with low bone mass (osteopenia) and skeletal fragility (osteoporosis) since 1984, Sara Meeks developed an evidence-based 12-part program designed to prevent, arrest or reverse the Patterns of Postural Change. Now with over 50 years of experience in physical therapy, Sara holds regular seminars to teach her guidelines for physical therapy management, exercise classes, yoga, Pilates, and other fitness programs, qualifying them as S.A.F.E. (Skeletally Appropriate For Everyone).
