Venison Bratwurst Debacle | Epic Fail Becomes Mild Success

Sometimes the best laid plans don’t quite work out, so instead of what we thought we’d be bringing you today we’re touring the farm and shouting out stuff that’s gone right lately (and some stuff that hasn’t). And yes, we do tell the story of how our attempt at making venison bratwurst went SPECTACULARLY wrong.

My mom loved to say “God laughs when you tell him your plans.” That simple phrase has proved itself to be true more times than I can count, and it reared its head once again this week when we *thought* we would be bringing you a video on how to make venison bratwursts. We were really looking forward to sharing that video (and eating the brats!) but instead of making bratwursts we ended up with something resembling a jerky stick or summer sausage. Whoops. Instead of throwing out the entire premise we decided to pivot and tell the story of how it all went wrong. Farm life is full of these moments, really. Stuff goes wrong a lot and you’ve got to make the best of the situation and figure out how to make it work. But we also have our fair share of moments where things go right and it’s important to take notice of that as well.

We’re learning on the fly as we grow our YouTube channel. It feels weird to post a video talking about the video that wasn’t meant to be, but this is our life, and we want to share it with all you fine folks. Thanks for watching our little family. We’ll see y’all soon.
