Miami Beach Florida
Miami and Miami Beach, interchangeable in the minds of most visitors, in reality are vastly different. Miami Beach is an island city with total area of 18.7 square miles of which just 7.1 square miles of land, surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay, Miami Beach offers an array of recreational activities.
One can jog and bicycle along the bayside or oceanfront paths, play tennis at an area park, swim or dive in the cool waters of the Atlantic Ocean, sail along the Bay, rollerblade down Ocean Drive, or enjoy Miami Beach’s golf courses. Miami Beach is seen as a trend-setting arts and entertainment Mecca, and a shopping and cultural wonder by visitors, world travelers, celebrities and locals alike. Miami Beach has always been a tourist-friendly vacation hot spot, but the city offers so much more now.
Miami Beach is no longer just a place to lay on the beach soaking up the sun, due to an economic boom that has sprung from the refurbishment of the Art Deco Historic District. From café’s, clubs and shopping along South Beach’s Ocean Drive, Lincoln Road, and Washington Avenue; the international hotels and restaurants of Collins Avenue and Middle Beach; to the re-emerging neighborhood in North Beach, Miami Beach offers visitors and residents a dazzling array of amenities to enjoy.

At its best, Miami Beach offers an unparalleled multicultural experience, international cuisines and cultural events, and an unmistakable joie de vivre—all against a beautiful beach backdrop. And at night in colorful Miami Beach, restless crowds wait for entry to the hottest new clubs.

The hub of Miami Beach is South Beach (better known as SoBe), with its energetic Ocean Drive, Collins Avenue, and Washington Avenue. Here, life unfolds 24 hours a day. Beautiful people pose in hotel lounges and sidewalk cafés, bronzed cyclists zoom past palm trees, and visitors flock to see the action. On Lincoln Road, café crowds spill onto the sidewalks, weekend markets draw all kinds of visitors and their dogs, and thanks to a few late-night lounges the scene is just as alive at night. A Mid-Beach renaissance is unfolding on Collins Avenue, with haute new hotels and restaurants popping up between 40th and 60th streets.
-South Beach is the most pedestrian-friendly part of Miami, so if you've got the time, spend a couple of days exploring it on foot. Wander the southern end of the beach one day, savoring the art deco architecture along Ocean Drive, the local museums, and the shops of Española Way. The next day, set your sights on the many pleasures of Lincoln Road and its neighboring attractions.

South Beach, or SoBe, is Miami Beach's buzziest bit. The vibrant area, with its pastel-hued buildings, hip nightclubs, trendy shops and see-and-be-seen restaurants, attracts socialites and their satellites year-round. The Art Deco District and Haulover Beach (home to the city's only legal haven for nudists) are other attractions. The Beach can be affordable, depending on where you stay, eat and play. Plan to spend some time in SoBe's cool bars; things start heating up when the sun goes down.
Miami Beach has been the host of city of Art Basel, a spectacular international arts fair. Deals closed fast and furiously, both on the ground floor, amid million dollars price tags.
