Hundreds of Indigenous people dispersed from mine in Peru

About seven hundred Indigenous people were evicted from Peru’s largest Chinese-owned copper mine. They were camping at the Las Bambas mine for 14 days in protest of alleged breaches by the Chinese state-owned Minmetals through its subsidiary MMG Limited. Over a thousand riot police fired tear gas canisters at the demonstrators, to which the protesters responded by throwing stones.
