NATO expansion into the East

British FM Liz Truss has suggested a 'Global NATO’ so as to protect Taiwan from China. However, with an Indo-Pacific defense group made up of US and Japan military already in that area and China seeming to be in a weakened state, why would a global NATO be necessary?
