The Definition
Trigger: to cause an intense and usually negative emotional reaction in (someone)

If we allow our triggers to go unchecked they have a way of becoming so negative that we lose our sanity, our peace, our focus, and our victory.

The Purpose of the series is to help us identify the Four areas in which Satan operates to destroy our lives and keep us from being victorious.

Our Relationship With Others Is Triggered By Five Fronts
Your Un-forgiveness
Your Lies
Your Coveting
Your Father Wounds
Your Fear

Amazingly, the Ten Boom’s little home became the hub of the underground network. From their secret hiding place, the fingers of the underground reached into the farthest corners of Holland. As those of the Ten Boom family lived their double lives, they shuffled the hunted Jews into their one-room hiding place for sometimes up to two weeks, while members of the underground sought to slip the stowaways out of the country to safety. Meanwhile, Corrie lived with the constant fear that they could be caught … and with reason. The family was betrayed by a fellow watchmaker whom Corrie’s father had trained a few years earlier. As a result of this treachery, Corrie never embraced her father again nor delighted in the presence of her beloved sister Betsie. How could Corrie not be consumed with bitterness toward this “friend” who betrayed them? She suffered the severity of these words …

Psalm 41:9 (ESV)

Dangerous Ground of Un-forgiveness

When We Choose Not To Forgive, We Give A Stronghold To The Enemy

Ephesians 4:26-27 (NLT)

When We Choose Not To Forgive, We Give Our Hearts Poison That Grows A Bitter Root System

Hebrews 12:14-15 (NLT)

When We Choose Not To Forgive, We Give Ourselves A Position That Only God Deserves

Romans 12:19

What Forgiveness Is Not…

Minimizing The Pain You Have Gone Through
Covering Up Someone Else’s Crime
Completely Forgetting What They Have Done To You (Forgive and Forget Lie)
Based On Their “Genuineness” of Their Apology

Ephesians 4:32 (NLT)

Lessons From Joseph and Forgiveness

Joseph was favored by his father and rebuked by his brothers (Sold into Slavery)
Joseph was accused of rape of his master’s wife because he would not sleep with her.
Joseph was forgotten in prison by the king’s cupbearer and left in prison

Joseph was reunited with his brothers, Genesis 43-45

Genesis 45:1-8 (NLT)

Joseph Forgave His Brothers Long Before He Was Reunited With Them

Joseph Was Very Emotional With The Reunion, not Vengeful

Joseph Did Not Immediately Trust Them, So He Tested Them

Genesis 50, 16-21

How To Know When God Is In It?

Demonic Revenge: You Lose and I Lose (“A person who seeks revenge should dig 2 graves”)
Fleshly Revenge: You Lose and I Win
Spiritual Forgiveness: You Win and I Win (Deeper Forgiveness is Greater Anointing)

Name your pain…Release people who caused you pain… and allow God to use your pain.
