Characteristics of Liars

Liars Convince Themselves That They Are “Special”
Abraham is our father

Liars Convince Others That They Are “Special”
We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father—even God.

Liars Conveniently Forget Facts And Ignore Truth
If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and I am here. I came not of my own accord, but he sent me.

Liars Circumvent The Truth To Fit Their Interpretation Of Reality
Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word.

Satan Partners With People To Project and Advance His Lies

Six Ways In Which Satan Partners With People To Lie:

Flattery

Psalm 12:2, Everyone utters lies to his neighbor; with flattering lips and a double heart they speak.

The difference between “flattery” and “encouragement” is the motivation of the heart.

Deceptions

Twisting facts of truth into weapons of harm.

Genesis 3, Satan did this to Adam and Eve with God’s Words to the first family.

Online social media allows this to be a breeding pool for deception, half-truths are still lies.

Slander and Libel

This is misinformation that is intended to harm or slander another person

Matthew 12:36-37

You might get off in a court of law by saying, “ In my opinion” but there is a judge who will not allow that talk to slide.

Condemnation

Condemnation is a demonic counterfeit to conviction. Conviction comes directly from the Holy Spirit and is specific so that we are able to walk in God’s will. Condemnation comes from Satan so that we live with shame and guilt from our past mistakes that have already been forgiven.

Romans 8:1,

Negative Narrative

Anything from political campaign speeches, to divorces, to church splits, propaganda

If social media existed in Jesus’ day, how would He have represented before Pilate?

Gossip

1 Timothy 5:13

A murder kills a body, a gossiper kills a reputation.

Why Do We Lie?

We want to avoid negative consequences

We want to protect our illusion of who we really are

We want to control a situation

We want to punish others

We want others to dispose of people we despise
