2. Storms God Creates For Us That Promote Growth and Maturity For Our Faith (When Jesus walks on water)

What Do I Do When I Am In The Middle of A Self-Made Storm?

Jonah 1:9-12; 15-16,

Self-Made Storms Arise In Our Lives When God's Purpose For Our Life Clashes With Our Personal Fears, Insecurities, and Anxieties.

Jonah hated the people of Nineveh.

Why would God want to save such a hated and dreadful people?

Nineveh was known for injustice and oppression.

Self-Made Storms Arise In Our Lives When God's People Ignore The Words Of The Lord And Seek Personal Agendas

Jonah knew what God said and chose to do the opposite.

This is your world; people are choosing to do the opposite of the words of the Lord.

Self-Made Storms Arise In Our Lives When God's Plans Are Scrapped For Better Life Experiences

Jonah did not want to deal with the reality of Nineveh's sin and his role in sharing the truth with them.

Jonah was in Joppa, a port town with money, trade, and goods from around the world.

How To Calm storms In Our Lives…

Acknowledge Who You Are… "I am a Hebrew."
Acknowledge Who You Worship… "I worship the LORD, the God who made the sea and land."
Acknowledge Your Sin… "Throw me into the sea."
Acknowledge You Must Die To Your Self.

Luke 9:23

Deny self: Disowning one's natural sinful self. Give up the confidence in yourself to have the ability to save yourself.

Take Up His Cross DAILY: to daily reject the applause of the world for the applause of heaven.

Follow Me: A continual pattern of obedience.

Your Spiritual Death To Self Has A Major Impact On People Around You
