Winter Raised Bed care and the chicken solution

In this episode we get the chickens into their new area. It is already providing results. I was able to work in the gardens without fear of them destroying my work.

We clean up a raised bed, add bone meal, and cover the bed with cardboard. After that I begin working on the perennial grapes, weeding, amending, and mulching to secure the young plant for the winter.

This video finishes with some bird call footage over scenic views of the garden. Enjoy.

Staring seed indoors in January comes with challenges. Having the space, equipment, and know how to start seeds is an incorporated skill and is developed through experience. Our third year starting herbs, flowers, perennial, for the garden.

Gardening by the almanac. Does it work? How do you do it? We all have questions about this topic related to gardening.

We use natural gardening techniques to build a diverse natural ecosystem in the gardens. Slowly replacing common species, with perennial food producing species.

Have questions? Drop me a comment during the video, or send me an email.

Want to see how permaculture and food forest work? This is a very young food forest. Foundation tree plantings are still happening. This year we will focus on establishing our new fruit trees, and removing the unproductive or undesirable nuisance plants. Working with nature and its natural cycles.

Zone 7A/8B we are in a boundary zone micro climate on the banks of a seasonal creek. Expanding the food production, natural ecosystems that will blend food production, medicinals, and aesthetic plantings. To support bees, butterflies, and all the beautiful life on this garden.
