Are Redbud trees edible?

Ingredients (makes 3 half pint jars):
1 Quart Redbud Blossoms
2 cups Water
3 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
3 Tablespoons Powdered Pectin
2 cups Sugar
1 Tablespoon Butter

1. Boil 2 cups of water and pour over blossoms, gently stirring mixture
2. Cool in refrigerator overnight
3. Strain cooled liquid through fine mesh strainer pressing the liquid from the blossoms and return to a boil
4. Add lemon juice, pectin, sugar and butter and return to a boil
5. Boil hard for 1 minute
6. Fill pre-heated (sterilized) jars and seal in a hot water bath for 10 minutes
