Wayne Quigley and Marc Anthony filmed Senior Summer in 1981, the summer before their senior year of high school. After filming the short "Mr. Bill Goes to Grace Christian" (1980), Marc & Wayne decided to work on a longer film project. The movie was filmed in Ludington, Michigan, on an old Bell&Howell 8mm movie camera, before VHS or digital movie cameras and players existed. Marc & Wayne filmed random scenes while on vacation with the Quigley Family, and manually spliced all of the scenes together with a loose story line of Wayne chasing after a fly ball. At the end of the movie, the "double exposure" scenes were a complete accident and unplanned. Marc, feeling bad because Wayne was doing most of the camera loading and unloading moved a box of film. Wayne asked Marc, "Which stack of film did you get that roll from?", and Marc wasn't sure. They guessed, and as usual, guessed wrong... ending up with one roll of blank film and the other one double exposed. The resulting effect ended up being the highlight of the movie. The movie was first shown on New Years Eve, 1981 at a party of high school friends. Senior Summer has been shown at various events with more than 500 people seeing the film. It was not until 32 years later that the film was converted to a digital format; original music was updated with clean digital versions and placed on Rumble.
