New Found Gold - Chip Off The Old Block

New Found Gold presents, “Chip Off The Old Block,” a profile of Geologist Karin Clyke. Karin has had a love of rocks her entire life, inspired in her earliest days by her grandfather, Gerald Dexter Clyke.

Gerald’s life was shaped by mining. His career spanned four decades for Inco, a mining company in Sudbury, Ontario, where he was responsible for Mine Rescue and Safety - and even coached the Inco little league baseball team in his free time.

Gerald took the importance of mining and gently instilled the value of it in his young granddaughter. It’s those early lessons that built the foundation for Karin to become a geologist. Now Karin contributes her knowledge and wisdom to the work New Found Gold is doing every day in developing a tier one, world-class gold mine in Newfoundland.
