But in Jerusalem, the Al Aqsa Mosque, Islam's third-holiest site which was built atop the Temple Mount, Judaism's holiest site, saw Palestinian extremists turn the location into a staging ground for violence. Video footage showed Palestinian rioters stockpiling rocks and firebombs inside the mosque, and engaging in violence against Jewish worshipers at the Western Wall below and at Israeli police who were attempting to remove the weapons, stop the riot and restore peace.
