SIMILAR, But DIFFERENT? The Drew Estage LIGA UNDERCROWN 10 Toro - CIGAR REVIEWS by CigarScore

While at Tobacco Cabana in Cedar Hill, Texas the other day, I had the chance to pick up a sampler pack of the new Drew Estate Liga Undercrown 10s. So I thought I'd review it and see if this stick is worth celebrating.

The first thing I noticed about the Liga Undercrown 10 was how similar-but-different the label was to the typcial Undercrown Maduro (reviewed here). The label takes the regular blue-ish black and gold and adds more black and a yellow ribbon to it.

Giving the cigar a smell, the Undercrown 10 also has a similar and familiar musty and sweet smell to it.

After a quick and easy cut of the cap, the cold draw was about perfect. Lighting up the Drew Estate Liga Undercrown 10 was like riding a bike and I tasted flavors that were similar but different and I had high hopes for this commemorative blend.

Through the middle of the cigar, the flavors were good. I think I prefer this Undercrown 10 to the Undercrown Maduro, but I believe it's about 30% more expensive. And, it quite possibly much harder to find. However, for the first 45 minutes or so, the burn on this cigar was uneven.

Final Thoughts

By almost every measure, the Drew Estate Liga Undercrown 10 Toro is a great cigar. While there was a burn issue, I barely noticed it as it never had any significant or negative impact on the draw or the experience as a whole.

Overall, the draw was great. And, while I didn't just love the flavors, they were pretty dang good and you might love them. I suspect that even if you didn't love the regular Undercrown Maduros, you're going to like this Undercrown 10.

Even though this commemorative and celebratory cigar is more expensive than its pedestrian brother, it's worth it. The Drew Estate Liga Undercrown 10 Toro earns a CigarScore 5.
