Christ came from heaven to earth, to show us his way to the heavenly Father. He went from the cross to the grave, and by doing so paid our debt to God - in full. He rose from the dead three days later and shortly after that occasion went from the earth to the sky, making the cycle and our salvation complete. That, essentially, is the message of the song.
