Sonderkommando eram as unidades especiais em Auschwitz destinadas a eliminação dos judeus, manipulação e queima de seus corpos. Eram isolados dos demais prisioneiros e seu encargado durava geralmente 6 meses. Logo eram eliminados e substituídos, por isso poucos sobreviveram. Esse episódio conta a experiência de um deles que encarava a morte face a face todos os dias.
