Mouses, houses and the Switcheroo

4/25/22 strange event this morning. I usually catch field mice every night in my waist water bucket. I dumped a couple yesterday that had been in the bucket a couple days. yesterday, they were no longer in the area where I dumped them and this morning I believe those same to mice were back in my empty bucket.
it's just very interesting thinking about what might have put those back in the bucket, if that's what happened. there wasn't enough water to drown them and they were in very sad looking shape. makes me wonder now in the night when I hear noises outside the cabin what's, going on out there.
