Mr Elon Musk (Parody)

For 20 years I have been trying to track down a novelty song that would play every morning on Hawaiian radio. It had something to do with grandmothers and eggs, but no amount of lyric searching or forum questions has helped.

I did, instead, find this song by Keola and Kapono Beamer from their 1975 self-titled album:

Sung more recently by Keola Beamer and Henry Kapono here:

Rather than re-record a song which some people might see as problematic, I have written some parody lyrics about a few of the figures that fit the same paradigm on a global scale.

While the Beamer brother's song is light-hearted, I have spent enough time in Hawaii away from the resort areas on Oahu to know that the poverty is real and the class divides run deep. On the other hand, Hawaiians seem to be some of the most generous and happy people I have met and their enduring culture is a jewel in our collective human history.

I don't know what it means for humanity when we cannot feed or house everyone, or stop Russia from murdering and raping civilians in Ukraine, but one individual can drop $44b on a vanity purchase.

A reference in the song which might not be clear is the 50 Cent Party:
