When it comes to cigars to pair with coffee (https://www.cigarscore.com/Breakfastcigars), the Sobremesa Brulee is one of my absolute favorites. So, when Steve Saka's Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust decided to make a new and different version of that cigar, I knew I was excited to smoke it. After searching local lounges for months, I finally found the Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust Sobremesa Brulee Blue, and that's what we're reviewing today.

One thing that immediately differentiated the Sobremesa Brulee Blue from the regular (ie non-Blue) Sobremesa, other than the baby-blue label as opposed to a golden bronze label, was the pigtail tip. The Brulee Blue has a pigtail, the original has a classic cap.

Moving on, the cigar looked nearly perfect. The wrapper leaf had a little bit of peach fuzz on it that you can see clearly in the bright sunshine. On the cold draw, there was a hint of honey.

Once lit, the Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust Sobremesa Brulee Blue had strong flavors that were, perhaps, a little harsh. On the second puff, while the flavors improved, the draw tightened up and I wished I could get more smoke. This could get interesting!

Final Thoughts

After smoking the Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust Sobremesa Brulee Blue for just over an hour, I can tell you that it's not as good as the regular Sobremesa but it costs more.

However, the flavors were good. They were bolder and spicier with the Blue as compared to the regular. And, while I hate to compare this cigar to another one, it's impossible not to in this situation.

Overall, the construction was pretty good but the draw could've opened up and been a little better.

But, as a stand-alone cigar, I liked this one. The flavors were woody and spicy and the slightly uneven burn in the first third didn't impact the overall experience. So, the Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust Sobremesa Brulee Blue, while a little expensive, earns a CigarScore 5.
